Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate customer acquisition cost?
Total sales and marketing spend ÷ new customers acquired in the period. Include ad spend, agency fees, tools, and creative costs — not just the ad platform bill.
What is a good CAC for e-commerce?
It only means something against LTV: a 3:1 LTV-to-CAC ratio is the standard health mark. A $30 CAC is great for a $150-LTV brand and fatal for a $50-LTV one.
Should CAC include discounts and free shipping?
First-order discounts are acquisition spend by another name. Adding them to CAC (or subtracting from first-order revenue) shows the true cost of buying that customer.
